The trend can be used as a cover up or it can stand alone depends on the style, with this, I opted for layering. I started from a basic white sweatshirt, paired it with skinny jeans, slip-on tassel brogues and complemented the whole look with a chambray kimono-inspired top. Layering can be tricky, but you can always start from basics and build your whole outfit from there. Other than that, proportions and right fit should be considered as well.
