Last November 20, 2013 was the Uniqlo Style Challenge, it was held at their new store in Robinson’s Place Manila. I was invited and 4 other bloggers to participate. There were 5 teams all in all, each team was composed of one fashion/style blogger, a student, an employee and a DJ. We were given a 15k budget for the challenge, after the briefing/grouping, I was surprised that the members of my team were all girls haha thankful that they already know their style and it made the styling easier, so I just asked them to pick the clothes that they want and it’s a ‘yes’ or ‘no’ for me if it looks good on them or not, well I guess my team was able to pull it off! And here’s the output:
*all clothes are c/o Uniqlo Philippines except for the shoes : photo grabbed from Uniqlo Philippines Facebook Page*
1st Photo: Student – A laid back outfit but still stylish enough to face the crowd, appropriate (not too revealing), very young and comfortable to move around in school. Printed Polo Shirt and a full length pants are the typical college outfit, but for this one, a sweater and a beanie were also incorporated to have a different look, a very flexible for a day and night outfit in school. If it’s hot in the morning, you can just put your sweater on top of your shoulders or you can wrap it around your waist, and if it’s cold at night, you can just wear it and you’ll have another different look, and also, what makes this outfit more interesting and fun is the belt. Small things can really make a big difference! π
2nd Photo: Employee – A smart-casual outfit that would be appropriate in an office and presentable in front of a lot of people. For this look, I actually asked the model to incorporate a blazer in her outfit to look more professional and at the same time stylish, but of course, it’s not just a plain blazer, good thing Uniqlo is offering blazers that has minimal print on it. Finished off the look by incorporating a scarf since it’s cold inside the office. The Blazer is one of the essentials in a person’s wardrobe, it’s very versatile! π
3rd Photo: DJ/RJ – We don’t normally see Radio Jockey while they’re on air, but it doesn’t mean they shouldn’t dress up, so for my DJ/RJ model, I opted for her to cover up. A DJ/RJ will be spending a lot of time inside a booth, so the best thing to do is to layer up a bit. A chambray top, cardigan and a full length – nice fitting pants will do to see the silhouette of her body, the curves! π A nice chambray top and leaving few buttons unbuttoned to get that relaxed look paired with a cardigan, if it gets hot inside the booth the model could just take it off or if it gets cold she could just put it on again. If you’re going to layer up, make sure every piece of the outfit could stand alone! π
4th Photo: Blogger – For bloggers, we need to come up with a “Flash Fashion” look, so for me, I toned it down by wearing gray and black shades and pop up some colors by wearing plaid/flannel button-down and printed socks to make the whole outfit more interesting. Less is more! π
